Protest: eBay: General Auction Misrepresentation
I am very tired and disgusted by the fact that it is common practice
for an auction to present the option to pay using PayPal, and then
as the payer, be forced through a tedious, slow and annoying
payment system that has absolutely nothing to do with PayPal.
This, in my opinion, constitutes a misrepresentation of the auction.
These payment systems are for the benefit of the seller only,
and are often used to find a way to then advertise to the buyer after the auction,
even to the point where there is a check box already checked,
which agrees that the buyer will receive advertisements. ( Acutiva )
One must now always be on guard.
When did eBay change it's policy about sellers SPAMMING buyers after
an auction? Has the policy been changed? Why is it now acceptable
to allow sellers to misrepresent their preferred method of Payment?
Maybe the real question is how is eBay profiting from this situation?
Other payment options, for example, the option to pay only by certified
check, or only by personal check, have a great bearing, and rightly so,
on whether or not a person is willing to bid in an auction or purchase a buy it now product.
These specific payment options are obvious in the listing and it is also quite
obvious when the option to pay using PayPal is not presented.
I strongly believe that eBay should change it's policy about the listing
of payment method to the point where if PayPal is listed as a payment method,
and is chosen by the buyer / winner as the method of payment,
then the buyer should be moved directly to PayPal.
Any other action in that situation constitutes a misrepresentation of terms in the auction.
Sincerely,
